eWay Bill Validity & Distance Calculator

Check whether an eWay bill is required for your consignment and exactly how many days it stays valid for the distance — based on the current Rule 138 validity slabs. Free, no login.

Consignment details

₹75,000
600 km

Validity is 1 day per 200 km (or part thereof), counted from generation. An eWay bill is mandatory when the consignment value exceeds ₹50,000.

eWay bill required

Value ₹75,000 is above the ₹50,000 threshold, so an eWay bill must be generated for this movement.

Validity

3 days

For 600 km at 1 day per 200 km. Validity runs from the time Part-B is first entered; the last day ends at midnight of that day.

Frequently asked questions

When is an eWay bill required?

An eWay bill is mandatory for the movement of goods worth more than ₹50,000 (in a single consignment). Some states set a lower threshold for intra-state movement, so always check your state’s rule.

How is eWay bill validity calculated?

For regular cargo, validity is one day for every 200 km or part thereof. For over-dimensional cargo (ODC) or multimodal shipments involving a ship, it is one day for every 20 km. So a 600 km regular trip gets 3 days; validity is counted from when Part-B is first entered.

What is the difference between Part-A and Part-B of an eWay bill?

Part-A captures the consignment details — GSTINs, invoice number, value and HSN. Part-B captures the transport details — the vehicle number and transporter. The eWay bill is only valid for movement once Part-B is filled, and its validity clock starts from that point.

Can I extend an eWay bill after it expires?

You can extend an eWay bill within 8 hours before or after its expiry if the goods are still in transit due to genuine reasons (breakdown, natural calamity, etc.). MoboSafe can auto-update Part-B from live GPS and flag expiries before they cause a detention.
